Well, once again, I have not delivered as quickly as I had hoped to. So, I am setting a new deadline to having at least the biggest majority of the pictures uploaded to our site by August 31. I know that's still a few weeks away, however, it'll give me time to sort through the roughly 3000 photos and get them organized. So, Ill post a link to them once I get them up and ready for viewing.

Firefighter Challenge comes to Altus, OK on July 31 and August 1st!

Friday, July 31st at 7:00 pm and Saturday, August 1st at 9:30am, Team Dr Pepper and Altus Fire/Rescue Department will host the Regional Firefighter Combat Challenge in Altus, Oklahoma. The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge® annually attracts hundreds of U.S. and Canadian municipal fire departments at more than 25 locations and is now expanding to countries around the world, including New Zealand, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa. The Challenge seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession's rigors to the public. Wearing "full bunker gear" and the SCOTT Air-Pak breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of five tasks including climbing the 5-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175 lb. "victim" as they race against themselves, their opponent and the clock. The Kids Firefighter Challenge is a small version of the full competition course and is open to kids from 4 years to 10 years allowing them to be a firefighter competitor and run through the obstacle course just like the real firefighters. They will climb an inflatable tower, spray real fire hoses, and drag a victim mannequin to safety. August 2008 Altus Fire/Rescue Department ~ Team Dr Pepper, hosted The Regional Firefighter Combat Challenge competition with great success. One hundred-thirty (130) firefighters representing departments from 7 states (Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Alaska) competed. The event was well attended with 2000 spectators from SW Oklahoma and Texas. The event location was ideal, providing walking access to lodging, restaurants, sporting goods, a grocery store and general needs shopping. Many competitors commended our event, stating it was the best they attended in 2008; some competitors attended over 10 prior to our event. Our event is highly recommended on the competitor message boards, and the road crew said it was their favorite in 2008.
